Forage for wild edibles and medicinals with the guidance of an experienced local herbalist. In this hands-on educational experience, we'll forage wild edibles as we stroll through a beautiful nature reserve in Monterey. You'll get to know several different edible plants and learn about the medicinal properties of the herbs of the forest. Also learn about which plants are poisonous and how to identify them. The mild year-round weather here in Monterey means there are always interesting things to forage, but each season has it's specialties!
Depending on the season, availability and park conditions, foraging might include edible flowers, leaves, seeds, and/or berries. (we do not forage for mushrooms*).
Family Package
For children age 7 and up only. This is a kid-friendly tour where families will enjoy learning about common edible and medicinal plants under the safe guidance of an experienced herbalist. Kids are provided with a fun activity pack to keep them engaged, including a map with stickers for each new plant they meet. Families will also learn about what poisonous plants to avoid, and how to identify them. It's an nice (and easy) outdoor activity that the whole family can enjoy. Please note that Family tours are booked as private only, and is not appropriate for children under 7 years of age.
